The Colorado River
through Grand Canyon

The Colorado River through Grand Canyon - the ultimate river trip - offers the longest stretch of roadless river in the lower 48.

The Grand Canyon is noted for magnificent scenery, exciting whitewater, and amazing side hikes - there's simply no other place like it on the planet.

We like to take it a step farther, with a relaxed pace that allows ample time for exploring the beautiful side canyons. Or to just sit in camp and watch the light change.

We sometimes schedule trips in April or October, when the Canyon is nearly deserted, and the air is cool enough for hiking. During the summer months it's warm enough to frolic in the many creeks, pools, and waterfalls in the side canyons. Hikes range from easy to strenuous, your choice.

We go in dories, the most elegant of boats. And we don't exchange folks at Phantom Ranch or Whitmore Wash the way some do. It's all or nothing - one small community experiences the Canyon without interruption.

What we're offering, really, isn't so much a trip as an experience. To most folks, the scenery, the thrills, and the camp life are only a part of it. The rest comes from within. We've found the rule to be, without exception, that however much you want to put into these places, that's how much you'll get back. And then some.
